Robinson Names Sean Doyle New VP Engineering, Pete Riedl Steps Into Advisory Role
Torrance, CA – (27 November 2023) – Robinson Helicopter Company, a pioneer in civil rotorcraft, welcomes Sean Doyle to the role of VP of Engineering, succeeding Pete Riedl who held the role for nearly two decades. This is part of a planned succession as the company builds on 50 years of success and solidifies its position as the preferred supplier in vertical aviation.
After almost 38 years with Robinson Helicopter Company, Pete Riedl has announced he is stepping down from his role as vice president of engineering. He worked closely with Frank and Kurt Robinson during his tenure, contributing significantly to various projects. Notable achievements include his collaboration with Frank on the design of the R44 helicopter and leading the design of the R66, as well as being involved in the development of the many options and improvements for all Robinson helicopter models. Riedl will continue to support Robinson in an advisory capacity.

Sean Doyle, Robinson’s engineering manager, will now lead Robinson engineering as vice president. Doyle, an engineering and flight test professional with extensive experience in rotorcraft and system development, test, and certification, previously served as a Flight Test Manager at Joby Aviation. Prior to Joby, he spent 15 years at Garmin, focusing on bringing new capabilities to the helicopter market, including advanced flight control systems, hazard avoidance, navigation, and displays.
